Pouya Mirzaei

Pouya Mirzaei was born in Tehran, Iran, to Mina Niasari, a nurse for the Red Cross, and Hossein Mirzaei, a serial entrepreneur who has run a restaurant, a sales agency, and a Toronto-based construction company. Pouya spent his younger years in Tehran and later Immigrated to Canada where he spent a large portion of his youth in Barrie, Ontario. Pouya was introduced to film at a young age and pursued this interest, initially, by making films for school projects. His early career involvements in filmmaking include the "daytime" show as a co-op intern with Rogers TV and his own skit-comedy YouTube channel. After graduating from high school in 2013, Pouya started up several businesses and traveled for 4 years, eventually leading him back to film. In 2017, Pouya founded his own production company, Origin Films, with his long-time friend and partner, Danny Bui.
