Michael Killen

Michael Killen was born in Kilwinning, Scotland and moved with his family to Long Beach, California when he was six years old.Michael developed an early love of music and later became fascinated with television and film, no doubt influenced by his close proximity to Hollywood. Michael studied music at Golden West College in Huntington Beach, CA and later video and and film at San Diego State University. After college, Michael worked in local cable production in Orange County, CA before making the leap to Hollywood.Michael's first break in the business came in 1987 when he was hired as a production coordinator for the CBS Schoolbreak Special, "An Enemy Among Us." Many more CBS films followed with Michael advancing himself to producer. Michael's hard work was rewarded with an Emmy in 1994 for his work on the CBS film, "Kids Killing Kids." Michael produced specials for NBC and Disney and also worked on such shows as "Unsolved Mysteries," "Real Stories of The Highway Patrol" and "American Gladiators."Michael moved to Nashville, Tennessee in 1994 to pursue his other passion, music. While honing his songwriting and composing skills, he continued working in television Production for Nashville cable networks TNN and CMT. He went on to compose the music for two PBS documentaries, winning a second Emmy for his work. He songs have been featured in the series "Any Day Now" as well as several RFD-TV shows.In 2004, Michael co-founded High Horse Video Productions which has since produced almost 300 half hour shows for Nashville based channels RFD-TV and Family Net.
