Grid Modorcea

Grid Modorcea was born in Romania, in 1944. He is a prolific writer, filmmaker and critic - an authorized voice, an erudite author with a polemical vocation. Since 2010, he lives and works in Manhattan, New York. A graduate of two universities in Bucharest, the University of Mathematics (1968) and The Institute of Theater and Film (1974). For 30 years he worked as a film producer and screen writer at the National Cinematography and at the Romanian National Television. He is a Doctor of Arts (PhD), a member of the Filmmakers Union and a member of the Writers Union. He wrote for major newspapers and art magazines in Romania. He founded a film studio, five newspapers and two publishing houses.He has published 86 books - novels, encyclopedias, poetry, essays, including several books about America such as: "Dead for America" (1999), "Crucified in America" (2001), "I'm Sorry, America" (2009) following which, in English: "The American Film" (2012) "Fine Arts in America" (2012), "The Cork", novel (2013), "Shakespeare and Eminescu" (2014). "Grid Modorcea is a living encyclopedia. I'm glad I have lived to see his book Shakespeare and Eminescu. Only he has the power to create a perfect mirror, to demonstrate that Eminescu's place is near Shakespeare's." (Radu Beligan)He has made over 50 films (docudramas, essays and documentaries), including the following in English: "Brancusi - The Carver of Souls" (1996), "George Enescu - God's Chosen" (1998), "The Treasure of Faith in the New World" (2001) - Series, "The Way of Salvation" (2001), "Nostradamus" (2002), "A London Series" (2008), "The Mask and the Mirror" (2009).He won national awards for the books "Shakespeare and Eminescu", "Gopo's Sight", "The New Romanian film in the European Context", "The New Wave of Films". In 2010, he has received the MAGNA CUM LAUDAE title for lifetime achievement. He was proposed for the Nobel Prize in Literature by the Romanian Writers Association. International Awards for his films "Brancusi - the Carver of Souls" and "George Enescu - God's Chosen".Grid Modorcea is the father of Mihaela Modorcea and Gabriela Modorcea, who make up the duo Indiggo Twins.
