Adam joined SignalFire after completing his PhD in Computer Science at Stanford in the Natural Language Processing (NLP) group (2008–14). His research at Stanford focused on reinforcement learning, sentiment analysis, and situated language acquisition. Adam published research in top venues, including the Association for Artificial Intelligence, the. International Conference on Machine Learning, and the Association for Computational Linguistics. As an intern at Honda Research Institute (2011), Adam was awarded a patent for methods of predicting driver routes to improve hybrid vehicle efficiency.. Before his PhD, Adam graduated with a B.S. in Computer Science, summa cum laude, from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). While there, he published research in computational logic and reinforcement learning, and developed an early context-sensitive spelling correction application. Adam was also a Research Engineer at RiverGlass (2007–08), a data analytics startup serving law enforcement, where he developed an information extraction system for mining publicly available crime reports and police data. Before college, Adam completed research applying genetic algorithms to cryptography, which received top awards from the AI industry organization AAAI and Intel ISEF.. In his spare time Adam enjoys acting in comedic theater, playing classical piano, and listening to audiobooks while riding his bicycle.
