Amandeep Gill Singh

Amandeep Singh Gill is a Under-Secretary-General, Tech Envoy at United Nations.. Amandeep Singh Gill joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1992. He has served abroad at the Indian Mission to the UN and the Conference on Disarmament in Geneva (1994-1996, 2010-2013), the Indian Embassy in Tehran (2001-2004) and the High Commission of India in Colombo. (2004-2006). At headquarters in New Delhi, he has served thrice in the Disarmament and International Security Affairs Division (1998-2001, 2006-2010 and 2013-2016) as well as in the United Nations Division (1996-1998). He served as the Head of the Disarmament and International Security Division in the Ministry of External Affairs from 2013 to 2016. He has also served as an expert on the UN Secretary General’s panels of experts on the Fissile Material Cut-off Treaty (FMCT), Small Arms and Light Weapons and on Missiles. He participated in the UN Disarmament Fellowship programme in 1999.. He is the current Chair of the Group of the Group of Governmental Experts (GGE) of the Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons (CCW) on Lethal Autonomous Weapons Systems (LAWS). He is also President-designate of the 2017 Meeting of States Parties to the Biological and Toxin Weapons Convention (BTWC).. Amandeep Singh Gill has a B. Tech in engineering from Punjab University, Chandigarh and an Advanced Diploma in French History and Language from Geneva University. His PhD from the Department of War Studies at King’s College, London is on Nuclear Learning in Multilateral Forums.
