Alan Fisher is a serial entrepreneur and technology investor. Most recently, he was co-founder, Chairman, and CEO of Iron Speed, Inc., a developer of enterprise-class application development tools. Prior to Iron Speed, he was a Partner at Outlook Ventures, a venture capital firm focusing on enterprise software, and the co-founder and General. Partner of Wingspring, Inc., a venture capital company focusing on e-commerce opportunities. Prior to Wingspring, Mr. Fisher was a co-founder, Chief Technical Officer, and Director of Onsale, Inc. (N:ONSL). Onsale was the Internet’s leading value retailer specializing in computers and consumer electronics and is credited with inventing the online auction. He oversaw the company’s engineering and technical operations and also served as the company’s Chief Financial Officer in its early years. Mr. Fisher’s career began at AT&T Bell Laboratories, where he worked on commercial videotext systems. From there, he moved to Teknowledge, an artificial intelligence software products firm where he led the development of its chief software product. He then co-founded Software Partners, Inc., a developer of software products for online services, and co-founded Ambia Corporation, a developer of technical publishing software for the Adobe Acrobat platform. Mr. Fisher has been a board member of several public companies, including Egghead.com (N:EGGS), Onsale (N:ONSL), Fatbrain.com (N:FATB) and Infodata Systems, Inc. (N:INFD), as well as a board member of several privately held companies. Mr. Fisher has an MS in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University and a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Missouri. He also holds 16 patents and is the author of “CASE: Computer Aided Software Engineering”, published by John Wiley & Sons.
