Adam Kerns joined the American Insurance Association in 2012 as an Assistant General Counsel in the Law Department, and is based in the Washington, D.C. office. He concentrates on state, federal, and international financial regulatory initiatives. His current areas of responsibility include group supervision, group capital, corporate governance,. innovation and regulation, solvency, and climate change. Prior to joining the American Insurance Association, Adam gained experience as Director of Finance in the Government and Industry Affairs Department at Farmers Group, Inc. While at Farmers, he monitored financial-related issues via the NAIC and Farmers’ trade associations to help determine the financial impact on business operations of state and federal regulations and legislation. Prior to Farmers, Adam worked as a controller for a Los Angeles law firm, a real estate attorney for a Philadelphia law firm, an internal auditor for Aramark, and an auditor/consultant for PricewaterhouseCoopers. He is a licensed California CPA and is admitted to practice law in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Washington, D.C. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from Villanova University and his Juris Doctor from Temple University.
