John August Swanson (January 11, 1938 - September 23, 2021) was an American visual artist who worked primarily in the medium of serigraphy, as well as oil, watercolor, acrylic, mixed media, lithography, and etching. He was perhaps best known for his biblical imagery. His work is represented in the permanent collections of many museums, including the Smithsonian Institution, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, and the Bibliothèque Nationale in Paris.
