Amanda has over seven years of life science experience with close familiarity with plant biotechnology and human protein folding diseases.. She holds a PhD in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry from La Trobe University together with the agri-biotechnology company Hexima Ltd., focusing on a family of novel circular proteins (cyclotides) that. possess potent biopharmaceutical properties.. Since completing her PhD, Amanda worked for three years as a research scientist at Columbia University in New York City identifying new genetic and biochemical pathways that may be directly relevant to a number of human diseases, most notably cystic fibrosis.
