Alex Gluhak

Alex completed a Dipl.-Ing.(FH) degree from the University of Applied Sciences in Offenburg, Germany in 2002 and a Ph.D. degree at the University of Surrey in 2006. Since then he has held research positions with CSSR and later the Ericsson Ireland Research Centre. He was a visiting researcher at the National Institute for Information and. Communications Technology (NICT) in Yokosuka, Japan in 2005 and at the Centre for Embedded Computer Systems (CECS), University of California Irvine, the USA in 2002.. Alex has more than 10 years of research experience in academia and industry. Since 2006 his focus has been on mobile computing and the Internet of Things and more recently how these technologies can be used opportunistically to provide foundations for Smarter Cities and Smart Energy solutions. He was a recipient of the 2013 ID People Award, the Oscars of the ID industry, for his contributions to the European Internet of Things research community.
