Amir Elstein was appointed as Chairman of the Board in January 2009. Elstein serves as the Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Teva, as Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Jerusalem College of Engineering and as a chairman/member of the board of several academic, scientific and educational, social and cultural institutions.. Elstein served as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Israel Corporation from 2010 to 2013, a member of Teva Pharmaceutical Industries senior management team from 2005 to 2008, where most recently he held the position of the Executive Vice President at the Office of the CEO, overseeing Global Pharmaceutical Resources. Prior thereto, he was an executive at Intel Corporation, where he worked for 23 years, eventually serving as General Manager of Intel Electronics Ltd., an Israeli subsidiary of Intel.. Elstein received his M.Sc. in the Solid State Physics Department of Applied Physics from the Hebrew University in 1982 and his B.Sc. in Physics and Mathematics from the Hebrew University in 1980. In 1992, Elstein received his diploma of Senior Business Management from the Hebrew University.
