Mr. Alan Smith is the Non-Executive Chairman of Avlar BioVentures Ltd. He is a Non-Executive Director of M. Wright & Sons Limited and Fair Reserve Limited. Mr. Smith served as the Group Managing Director of Anglian Water until December 1997 and the Group Finance Director of Anglian Water Authority and Anglian Water plc. He has had extensive. experience at senior executive and non-executive level in listed companies.. Mr. Smith was also the Non-Executive Chairman at Acambis PLC since May 20, 1999. He joined the Board of Acambis PLC on November 3, 1995 as a Non-Executive Director and served as the Chairman of the Nominations Committee and a Member of the Audit Committee, Remuneration Committee.
