As a senior, completed 69 percent of his passes for 2,424 yards and 28 touchdowns, while rushing for 1,065 yards and 15 touchdowns, leading Hueytown to a 13-1 record and the Class 5A state semifinals. Also played baseball in both high school and college and was selected in the 15th round with the 486th overall pick by the Texas Rangers in the 2012 MLB first-year player draft.
