Akshay Kumar is SVP and Chief Data Officer, Business Technology, and is a member of the Management Committee at Discover. He is responsible for expanding an end-to-end digital data ecosystem, while delivering world-class analytics data solutions and leading data governance and security. He continuously evaluates and leverages emerging technologies. in big data, including Artificial Intelligence, machine learning, and data visualization capabilities, to drive an industry-leading customer experience. Mr. Kumar has more than 25 years’ experience serving in information technology roles in financial services organizations, including American Express, Bank of America, and UBS Investment Bank. Before joining Discover in 2018, he was Chief Data Officer and IT Relationship Leader for the Consumer Health Division at Aetna, Inc. In this role, he built a world-class data and analytics ecosystem, including cloud-based analytics platforms, data governance and security, external data exchange, hybrid data storage and customer insights platforms.
