Alan was the Chairman and CEO of ProQuest Company, a leading digital education and business information public company.. He also co-founded Tribune Education which published the most widely used math curriculum in the U.S. along with several other innovative scientifically based and technology based education programs.. He also led Tribune’s. s foray into educational games, which culminated in an investment in The Learning Company, publisher of many of the most popular educational game brands including “Where in the World is Carman San Diego”, “Living Books” and “The Oregon Trail”. The Learning Company was sold to Mattel for $3.7 billion.. Previously, Alan had served as the CFO and Planning Chief for the Tribune Newspaper Group and as Director of Planning and Internal Audit for the Tribune Corporation.. He is a graduate of the Northwestern University Kellogg Graduate School of Management executive MBA program, has a bachelor’s degree in commerce from DePaul University and is a Certified Public Accountant.. In his spare time he plays the French Horn and has played in numerous wind symphonies and wind ensembles.
