Abin Kuriakose joined World Business Chicago in August 2016 as Program Manager for ChicagoNEXT, World Business Chicago’s dedicated effort to drive inclusive growth and opportunity for Chicago’s technology economy. Governed by a council of technology leaders, ChicagoNEXT strategic focus areas include capital, talent, industry and community. He. supports a portfolio of programs which includes the Chicago Venture Summit, ThinkChicago, and the Blackstone Inclusive Entrepreneurship Challenge.. Prior to his role at World Business Chicago, Abin served as Deputy Chief of Staff, Director of Public Policy and Director of Community Affairs and Outreach for Commissioner Bridget Gainer of the Cook County Board of Commissioners. He managed public policy development, government affairs and community engagement for the County’s Tenth District of 300,000 constituents. Cook County is the second largest county in the United States with 5.2 million residents and an annual $4 billion budget. He also volunteered as Senior Advisor for the Chicago City Council Asian-American Caucus.. Abin is a Global Shaper of the World Economic Forum, Young Leaders Council member of the Millennial Action Project based in Washington DC and inaugural Fellow for Indiaspora Forum, a 501c3 non-profit working to shape the future of U.S.-India relations. He is also a global and community engagement committee member of the Chicago Leadership Alliance and a 2016 fellow and former executive board member of New Leaders Council Chicago. In 2017, he was named “35 under 35 Young Leaders Making An Impact” by Chicago Scholars.. Abin attended DePaul University’s Driehaus College of Business where he was recipient of the DePaul Scholars’ Award. Born and raised in Chicago, Abin is always rooting for his favorite team the Chicago Cubs.
