Raissa Elana Noelle Michailovna Dietl, was born in Oakville Ontario Canada January 1st of 1983. At the age of 4 her family moved to a small lakeside town in the Niagara Region of Ontario known as Grimsby and it was there she would reside until the completion of high school. During high school, Raissa excelled in drama, Media and Photography Studies. After a co-op placement at a local television station where she was primarily On-Air Talent, she was curious to explore the production end while continuing to be on camera. With an application submitted to Humber College's Acting for Film and Television Program as well as having applied to Television and Film Production at Humber College's other campus, an awkward audition for admission into the acting program proved to her that she wanted to be more in control of the storytelling process. She was accepted into Television and Film Production at Humber College in Etobicoke Ontario in 2008. With the opportunity to direct a short film her second year, Raissa decided that working with actors suited her greatly and she developed a passion for directing. A documentary she got involved in Production Managing called, Heels On Wheels, chronicled the women behind a roller derby team. The success of the documentary gained exposure on the film festival circuit and sent Raissa to Los Angeles California to promote it.The duration of her time at Humber College gave her insight into Script Writing, Production Design and Editing but her true desire continues to be directing for film.Approaching graduation from Humber College, she is anxiously immersing herself in set work and is in the process of completing a feature film script that she would like to direct in Canada. She believes that Canada has the ability to stand out on an international level and plans to make her contribution in assisting Canada's body of filmmakers.
