Leroy San

Technically gifted, with pace to boot, Leroy Sane joined City in August 2016 as one of Europe's hottest prospects.Having attracted interest from the continent's footballing giants, the attacking midfielder made the switch from Germany to England in a bid to continue his football education.A bright young talent, his versatility proved a major attraction. He is able to play on either wing, as well as a number 10 or even a 'false 9'.Guardiola commented: "He has great technical ability, is very comfortable on the ball, and there is much to admire about the way he plays football. He is fast, enjoys creating chances for others, works hard for the team and scores goals, too. He also has a very positive attitude and will fit in well with our squad."Sane rose to fame after breaking through Schalke's highly respected academy to their first team in 2014. He had also enjoyed a spell with Bayer Leverkusen's youth team between spells at Schalke. His senior debut arrived in April against VfB Stuttgart - his only appearance that year - but since then, he has blossomed, becoming a first-team regular and quickly building up a reputation as a Bundesliga talent to watch. He had already caught the eye in a visit to Manchester back in the 2014/15 season, playing for Schalke's Under-19s against Patrick Vieira's City in the UEFA Youth League. The German side's best moves came through the forward, and he certainly stood out as one for the future. As he continued to impress at senior level, he wrote his name into the history books in March 2015 with a stunning strike to edge Real Madrid in a memorable 4-3 win in the Champions League, during a season in which he made 42 appearances and scored nine goals.Born to a rhythmic gymnast champion and a former footballer, Sane was destined for sporting greatness. With dual French and German citizenship, he had the option to represent either country, eventually opting for his birth nation, Germany.Ironically, he made his first-team debut against France in November 2015 and was called up to the Euro 2016 side, which reached the semi-final stage. He follows in the footsteps of Ilkay Gundogan in making the move from Germany to Manchester and is the latest in a long tradition of German players who have graced the sky blue shirt.Leroy made his debut away to Manchester United in September 2016, and his displays for City earned a PFA Young Player of the Year nomination. A year and two trophies later, and the exciting winger had won the PFA Young Player of the Year after an excellent second season in Manchester.
