Alpha Barry Bacar

Alpha Bacar Barry is serial entrepreneur and a youth employment expert from Guinea. He is the CEO of Jatropha Group, a Micro Finance Institution designed for young people. Prior to That, Alpha has worked For a UK based NGO called Peace Child International as Africa Desk Officer. He then worked for the United Nations Industrial Development. Organization (UNIDO). As a project manager in West Africa, he worked in setting up a sub-regional youth employment programme in the Mano River Union Basin. In 2010 he worked as Youth Employment National specialist to implement a Peace Building Commission Programmes in Guinea, Mali and Cote d’ivoire. Since 2014, Alpha is an international consultant on entrepreneurship for UNIDO operating in more than 10 countries across the globe. In 2011, Alpha and other national investors started up Jatropha, a microfinance company focusing on youth and women’s empowerment, which was also the first business incubator created in Guinea. Since 2013 Jatropha has trained over 6,000 young men and women in business management, helping them raise and manage funds so that they can achieve success. In 2015, Alpha started a new IT company and lunched his own tablet called Sincery. He is currently implementing with the Government of Guinea, a program called “one student, one tablet” that aimed to distribute 100.000 locally assembled didactic tablets to Guinean students on a lease-to-buy approach. With a potential market of 1.000.000 tablets, the tablet project is being extended in Mali, Gabon, Niger with a a joint venture called EVI-Africtech. Alpha is M.A graduated in information and communication sciences, from Conakry University and hold a Msc. in Management from Anglia Ruskin University in UK.
