Archie R. Foley was a psychiatrist at the Vanderbilt Clinic at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center and at the Division of Community Psychiatry at the Columbia School of Public Health (now the Joseph L. Mailman School of Public Health). He was born Archibald R. Foleyin Kingston, Ontario, Canada, where he also studied at Queens University Medical School, graduating in 1947. He served as a U.S. Army Captain in Arkansas from 1953-1955 and taught at the University of Tennessee at Memphis from 1955 to 1956. He earned an M.S. in community psychiatry at Columbia University, New York, New York in 1962. He traveled widely in his internships, residencies, post-graduate training and work: from Dallas, Texas and Hartford, Connecticut to London, UK. He became the director of psychiatry at the Catholic Medical Center of Brooklyn and Queens, New York in 1968. He died 12 February 1997 in New York, New York, USA.
