Ali Mazanderani is a financial technology entrepreneur and investor, with particular experience in emerging markets fintech. He is the co-founder and chairman of Teya, a pan-European fintech. He is or was an investor or director in several leading payments companies globally, including StoneCo (Nasdaq: STNE, but does business in Brazil, market cap. of roughly $5 billion), Network International (NETW in London, but does business in the middle east and africa and was just sold to a US PE firm for roughly $3 billion), PineLabs (Private, in India, last valued at roughly $4 billion), Thunes (Singapore based private fintech valued at roughly $900 million), and Lesaka (South Africa).. He was a partner for 9 years at Actis, a London-based global private equity firm (roughly $20 billion AUM), spearheading emerging markets fintech investments. He was instrumental in several Actis investments including those in leading payment platforms operating across the world, from Africa and the Middle (Emerging Market Payments Inc., sold to Network International) to Southern Africa (PayCorp Investments) to South East Asia (GHL Systems Berhad, publicly traded in Malaysia), India (PineLabs) and Brazil (Stone Group).. Prior to his career at Actis, Ali advised private equity and corporate clients for OC&C Strategy Consultants in London and served as lead strategy consultant for First National Bank based in Johannesburg..
