Aija Leiponen

Professor Leiponen's area of expertise is the organization of innovation, particularly cooperative strategies in digital innovation. She obtained her PhD in Economics from the Helsinki School of Economics and has conducted research at University of California Berkeley (USA), International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (Austria),. Imperial College London (UK) and the Research Institute of the Finnish Economy (Finland). Recent research projects explore innovation strategies in wireless telecommunications focusing on the role and implications of industry consortia, patent litigation, and firms’ strategies and performance in standard-setting committees. In ongoing work she is also working to illuminate the economics of (big) data and its implications for the emergence of the Internet of Things.
