Aditi Patil

Aditi Patil is a young professional in the STEM field. A social entrepreneur, student, researcher, writer, and volunteer, Aditi is passionate about serving her community and empowering women and minority groups to pursue computer science. Aditi Patil is currently studying computer science at Columbia University where she hopes to empower her female. peers to follow their goals in computer science.. Aditi created the organization XX Coders as a way to inspire young women to get involved in the booming industry. She is determined to help close the gender and racial gaps that pervade tech to this day. By doing this, she can help women discover new career paths, diversify the industry, and further progress overall. With XX Coders, Aditi has been able to work on a number of projects to benefit not only club members, but the community as well. The club has worked with SEPTA, the the Special Education Parent Teacher Association, to be able to offer computer programming classes to students on the autism spectrum. XX Coders also runs an immersive summer camp teaching coding for students in Wyandanch, a socioeconomically low area. These camps are designed to offer an engaging, supportive, fun and unique experience to campers. The camp has been able to offer hands-on demonstrations of different technology, as well as bring in female professionals in STEM to give presentations.. In addition to this, Aditi supports a variety of community initiatives. She is an Ambassador for Youth Programs for Samarthanam USA, where she works with people with disabilities and assists them through community initiatives when they come to the United States, and is active in Amnesty International. She has ample volunteer experience, especially in Wyandanch, New York, where she has worked to improve the state of education for local students.. Aditi is a writer who formerly served as the STEM Editor of her school newspaper. Aditi is also an avid researcher, and she has been fortunate enough to conduct research under professionals at Yale University and Columbia University. This previous research experience will aid her during her college career, where she'll continue to research at Doherty Center at Columbia University.. Aditi Patil is excited to be attending Columbia University in the fall of 2018 where she will study computer science.
