At about the same time of the 1890's , Max Reinhardt, who had a lifelong friendship with Eugen Burg, also took acting lessons from Maximilian Streben. At the same time, Eugen Burg and Max Reinhardt belonged to a group of theater-loving young people who called themselves the "Leopoldstadtler" because most of them lived in Vienna's Leopoldstadt. This group of theater enthusiasts also included Luis Taufstein, with whom Eugen Burg wrote several plays.
