He was a production designer and art director, known for Les demoiselles de Rochefort (1967), Les Quatre Cents Coups (1959) and Les parapluies de Cherbourg (1964). He was previously married to Jacqueline Moreau. He died on August 8, 2006 in Barbâtre, Vendée, France.
