Allan Chartrand has been investing in start-up and early stage companies since 1993.. Prior to engaging in venture capital, he worked for fifteen years with Nesbitt Thomson (now BMO Nesbitt Burns) in corporate finance and in investment banking. During that period, he managed debt and equity financings for many Canadian public companies and. provided them with financial advice.. Mr. Chartrand was an early stage investor in Genesis Microchip Inc. and one of its largest private investors. He sat on the Genesis board of directors from 1993 to 1996. Prior to that time, he was a director of Nesbitt Thomson. He currently sits on the board of MS Filter Inc., a Canadian company which supplies drinking water treatment systems to small municipalities and Fresco Microchip Inc.. Mr. Chartrand holds a Bachelor of Science degree from McGill University and an MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario
