Alex is the Program Manager for Chicago Anchors for a Strong Economy (CASE), having joined World Business Chicago in May, 2015. In his role, he assists with the overall operation of the initiative. In addition, he leads workforce development strategy for the initiative, which includes engagements with community partners and research support with an. emphasis on supply-side regional economic indicators.. Prior to joining WBC, Alex was an officer in the U.S. Navy. As a division officer, he was deployed to the Persian Gulf and the Pacific, serving aboard USS The Sullivans. In addition to his duties as Training Officer, he managed operations and maintenance activities. After his second deployment, Alex transitioned to a regional support command, where he managed fleet readiness and compliance activities out of Mayport, Florida.. In 2011, Alex left active duty and transitioned to the private sector in Chicago, working in sales and operations roles for Schneider, a broad provider of supply chain and transportation solutions. There he led market re-entry efforts in Mexico and managed brokerage services in the Southeast region of the United States.. Alex completed his Master of Urban Planning and Policy at the University of Illinois at Chicago with a concentration in Economic Development, Anchor Institutions and Urban Innovation Policy.
